Participate in MOVEMENT, ART and PRACTICE at MAP.

We hope to provide fun, flexible, friendly classes that you can attend either casually or regularly in accordance with your needs.

Between terms we will offer one-off pop-up classes and workshops to keep things fresh.

  • Attend casually for $15 per class

  • Attend a little more often with a 4 class pass for $40 (save $20) 

  • Attend all available classes, up to 16 within a term, for $100 (save up to $140)

How to book:

  • Go to  “Get at pass” button below (select casual, 4 class, or term pass and purchase) 

  • Go to  “Book now” under the class you want to attend and use your (email/code) at the end of the booking 

  • If you have any trouble, just come and check in with your teacher before the start of class *we take cash for casual attendees but we don’t hold change, please bring exact amount.

Māori Movement

Wednesdays 5.30pm – 6:45pm with Savanah Tukariri

Level: Open to all

What: Inspired by Kapa Haka and traditional Māori movement, this class draws on Te Ao Māori to focus on mobility, rhythm, and coordination. Māori Movement is open to all levels of experience and people interested in exploring a contemporary approach to Māori movement.

Who: People with an interest in: Māori performing arts, contemporary Māori movement,  Māori Culture, non-western movement, Te Reo Māori. 

Why: Great teachers, Friendly environment, unique class in Ōtautahi, a good work out, suitable for beginners, embodied practice, meaningful movement

Contemporary Movement – Muscle & Bone 


Saturdays 10 – 11:30am with Paul Young

Level: Open to all

What: M&B is fun, develops fitness and strength and is a great supplement for your dance training or fitness routine. M&B is an energetic movement and spatial training system that challenges participants to develop flexibility, endurance, and spatial awareness. The class has a special emphasis on moving communally (with others) and in relation to rhythm. 

Who: People who want to: develop movement skills, build strength and stamina, dance but not perform. People who are bored with their usual workout

Why: Great teachers, friendly environment, no long phrases to remember, a good work out,  supports dance training, suitable for beginners, not too serious

Bring: A sweat towel, comfy clothes, and a water bottle

Community Class

Contemporary Movement - Improvisation for Curious Bodies

10.00am – 11:30am all Saturdays in March with Janaína Moraes

Level: Open to all

What: Explore improvisation as warm-up, somatic inquiry and choreographic practice. Expect to experience journeys of self experimentation through exercises that explore movement as pathways for respiration, relational exploration and awareness building. Thinly requirement for the class is self-availability and curious disposition. Come prepared to sweat.

Who: people interested in developing movement skills, improvisation, building strength and stamina, dancing but not performing, and prioritizing a somatic experience.

Why: Great teachers, friendly environment, good work out,  supports dance training, suitable for beginners, not too serious

Private Classes: Learning on Your Terms

We can tailor a moving program to your needs. MAP staff have extensive experience in many contemporary dance techniques, choreographic practices, improvisation techniques and educational approaches. 

If you are looking for one-on-one or group sessions with any of our tutors, please be in touch. The studio is available during the day and some weekend slots and we can also arrange to come to your studio, school, or venue.
