helena may (she/they) is an artist born in tāmaki makaurau, aotearoa. she is of māori (te ātiawa) & european descent. since graduating from the nz school of dance in 2021, helena has been working as a freelance artist throughout aotearoa most recently performing with black grace dance company, and has been engaging in various workshops for professional development across australia and europe. helena’s artistic practice does not differ from her way of existing; meditation, writing, drawing, painting, community, compassion, curiosity, play and observation are all integral parts. helena’s currently curious in life/art about identity and its transformation, authenticity and the concept that we are all interconnected
