RE:MAP Outreach Residency Programme

In 2023/24 MAP was funded to conduct research on the future of residencies, connecting Ōtautahi with local and international partners and fostering relationships with artist residency programmes across the Pacific.

Sign up to receive news from the series of public events that will be part of the sharing of this research, including artist talks, panel discussions, workshops and public presentations on and with artists in residence.

MAP Resides at CoCA
Centre of Contemporary Art Toi Moroki

celebrating MAP’s art residency programmes by stepping into a journey of recollected memories of residing / desiring / re-siding. This show is a curation of our archives, featuring fragments of the experiences of some of the artists hosted between 2015 and 2024.

Extending the call to walk backwards into the future. Ka mua, ka muri.

Within our mahi, the art residencies programme have been moment-places through which we had the chance to host and support directly 43 artists.

Artists that, in their own ways, were facing a point of transition within their practice – a question, a dilemma, a desire, a dream, a blur, an unknown. Without the imposition of resolution, our residencies offered time and space for artists to dwell in their works with a sense of rest, release, research, re-imagination.

Curated by Residency Coordinator Janaína Moraes and artist Kat Stefanova.
