Movement Art Practice (MAP) is a Not-For-Profit
Contemporary Dance Organisation based in Ōtautahi Christchurch.
We believe in an Aotearoa where contemporary dance and performance is woven into the cultural fabric of our community.
We run community dance classes, artist residencies, community and corporate workshops, and present the annual Ōtautahi Tiny Performance Festival.

VACCINE PASSPORTS
FROM DECEMBER 3, AS PER GOVERNMENT MANDATES, WE WILL REQUIRE ALL STUDIO ATTENDEES TO BE DOUBLE VACCINATED AND PRESENT YOUR VACCINE PASSPORT ON ARRIVAL.
ALL THE MAP TEAM - TUTORS, STAFF, AND IN HOUSE ARTISTS ARE DOUBLE VACCINATED.

Throughout the Covid-19 Pandemic, MAP has been committed to providing you with a variety of ways to keep you safe and moving.
We are also continually adapting our annual programme as required to ensure we can still support movement artists and practitioners in this unprecedented time.

weekly community contemporary dance classes
MAP offers community contemporary dance classes that you won't get anywhere else in Christchurch. Leave your assumptions of dance class at the door and let us give you a new take. Contemporary dance gives you creative ways to explore and push new pathways for your body.
Come on a casual basis, book a pass or sign up for a MAP membership. We have a number of pricing options to suit everyone's unique lifestyle!

The MAP Sessions are a monthly studio happening and social gathering where we invite our In-House Artists and local performance artists to share a snippet of what they are up to at the moment, including live improvisations and works-in-progress.

creative kids dance!

We would love to have your child dancing with us in 2021.
We are super excited to nurture the next generation of innovative choreographers, fluent dance writers, and curious dance audience members.
We're running classess for 5 - 7 year olds and 8 - 10 year olds on Saturdays during school terms. If you are looking for an alternative to the traditional dance studio model for your children, this is the place!
